Henry and I went on a beautiful hike today at Lake Norman State Park which is about 45 miles north of Charlotte. It was a gorgeous day and the leaves are starting to change, so it was also really pretty.
Lake Norman is huge and we are hoping to go back and do some more exploring. Here you can sort of see some of the leaves beginning to change...
And a bouquet of leaves to show you all of the colors. I can't wait to see what it looks like when they change even more. I know it will be beautiful!
We are still amazed by the size of the trees and therefore also the size of some of the leaves. This one was bigger than my face!
Henry took some time out to play Tarzan.
One thing that was especially interesting was all of the mushrooms and fungi. We have no idea what any of these are, but they are pretty interesting looking creatures...we named them all.
We ended the day in Davidson, North Carolina....exploring the town and having dinner with some friends. Davidson is a beautiful place as well...it was a great day! I hope you all had a great day, too! Peace, Emily

Looks like fun, guys. Don't stop believing.
Carson was looking at these with me and before I could even read your caption, he said "Why is Jenny swinging from a tree like Tarzan?" No idea how he knows who Tarzan is??? Funny! GREAT pics. I am so glad ya'll are taking advantage of being in a beautiful place. Happy Exploring!
i personally like the leaf that was bigger than your face :)
Personally, I don't think it's a true hike if Henry isn't wearing a bright orange hat. ;-)
you know when I moved to Austin, the thing that I began to miss were trees, nice tall trees- it's funny that you are having the equal yet opposite reaction to NC trees...
I am so glad you are enjoying my home state. Congrats too Emily on ordination!
